Home of Hope – CAPAIDS Uganda

A Foundation Built on Purpose

The Friesen Harvey's Home of Hope (HoH) was established in 2011 with the generous support of the Friesen Harvey family a permanent facility in Boroboro Parish, Adekokwok Sub-County, Lira City. Born from the recognition that adolescent girls in Lango needed more than temporary support: they needed a safe, nurturing environment where they could heal, skill up and reclaim their sense of self.

HoH is proof that when you invest in the infrastructure and conditions for community-led development, the return is exponential. It is where SRHR screenings happen. Where SHGs meet. Where soap is produced, where poultry are raised under solar-lit shelter and where backyard gardens grow tomatoes and eggplant for nutrition and income.

It is where the Safe Space is rising brick by brick, toward the day when any girl in Boroboro can walk in and access health information without fear.

Every name below belongs to a real person who arrived with a hardship and left with a future.

Solome Achola
Solome Achola

When Solome arrived at the Home of Hope, she had nothing no income, no skills, no clear path forward. By the time she graduated with a hairdressing kit and a certificate, something had shifted.

'I am earning UGX 20,000 a week now. I am saving. One day I will have my own salon.'

She is not waiting for someone to rescue her. She is building her own rescue.

Akello Patricia
Akello Patricia

Akello's father has 15 children across multiple households. He could not afford fees. Without CAPAIDS's sponsorship, Akello would have joined the thousands of girls who drop out before Primary 7.

Instead, she sat her Primary Leaving Examinations in 2025.

'I want to be a nurse. Thank you for not giving up on me.'

We are not giving up on her.

Eveline Emor
Eveline Emor

Eveline received the highest disbursement in her savings group's second cycle UGX 600,000 and reinvested every shilling in her business.

She did not need a grant. She needed a system: consistent rules, collective accountability and a community that believed in her. The VSLA gave her that.

Now she explains financial literacy to neighbours who have not yet joined.

CAPAIDS Uganda

Our Impact in Numbers.

At CAPAIDS Uganda, every girl or young woman who arrives at the Friesen Harvey's Home of Hope carries a story of hardship. Every girl who leaves carries tools, skills and a certificate. The difference between those two moments is funded by people like you.
