At Friesen Harvey’s Home of Hope, we believe in the power of care, compassion, and community to transform lives. Established with the mission of providing a safe haven for vulnerable adolescent girls, HOH is more than just a shelter—it’s a place of healing, empowerment, and new beginnings.
Our dedicated team works tirelessly to provide holistic support for girls who have faced immense challenges, including those affected by poverty, abuse, and neglect. Through our programs, we focus on equipping them with the skills, confidence, and resources they need to rebuild their lives and embrace a future full of possibility.
At Friesen Harvey’s Home of Hope, we provide a wide range of services designed to address both the immediate and long-term needs of the girls in our care:
Safe Shelter: A secure, loving home where girls feel protected and valued.
Vocational Skilling: Training in practical skills such as tailoring, jewelry making, shoemaking, art & craft, bakery, and chicken rearing. These skills empower the girls to become self-sufficient and economically independent.
Mentorship & Counseling: Emotional support and life coaching to help the girls heal from their past traumas and build resilience.
Health Support: Access to essential healthcare services, including sexual and reproductive health education, menstrual hygiene training, and regular clinic visits.
Life Skills & Livelihoods: Equipping the girls with the knowledge and tools they need to live safe and productive lives after leaving HOH.
One of our primary goals is to prepare the girls for life beyond the home. We provide education and training that ensures they can reintegrate into society with confidence and a clear path to a brighter future. In addition to formal education, our vocational programs offer hands-on training in various trades, providing the girls with the skills to start small businesses or find employment.
To support their transition, we also offer livelihood assistance—providing startup kits like tailoring machines, tools, and materials upon graduation, ensuring they are set up for success.
We are committed to the overall well-being of every girl at HOH. This includes not only physical health but also emotional and psychological support. Through partnerships with local healthcare providers, we offer regular health screenings and provide hygiene supply kits for each girl, including items essential for personal care and dignity. Our team also focuses on promoting awareness around sexual and reproductive health, encouraging healthy practices and informed decisions.
At HOH, we understand the importance of environmental sustainability. We have implemented green initiatives such as solar lighting, climate-smart stoves, and tree planting. Our goal is to not only nurture the girls in our care but also teach them to be responsible stewards of the environment.
